NOT a Wine Dinner: Camuna Cellars

If you haven’t met Eli Silins, owner of Camuna Cellars in Philadelphia, you MUST. Eli is a good soul, an interesting thinker and a helluva lovely person to spend time with while drinking his inspired & beautiful wines.

BOOK YOUR TICKETS HERE

This is our eight installment of ´Not a Wine Dinner´, this time around with Eli Silins of Philly´s Camuna Cellars. In this format, you will be seated at a communal table with a wine maker, try several wines from them over a family-style meal. It is casual, a great way to learn about wine from their perspective but there is a loose format and conversations are organic. These dinners are always a great time.
Eli Silins created Camuna Cellars in Berkeley, California before moving the operation to a northeast Philly industrial space in 2019. Once settled in the mid-Atlantic, Eli got to work exploring the region's vast agricultural offerings. Eli's passion is infectious– he is endlessly curious about all things fermentable. In addition to wine, he also makes cider, mead, and cyser. The mid-Atlantic region has become a fitting home for Eli and his wife/business partner Molly Nadav– there's no shortage of quality grapes and apples for Eli to experiment with. All Camuna Cellars libations are fermented, aged, and bottled in their space in northeast Philadelphia. The fruit is sourced from sustainable farms within the mid-Atlantic. The wines are certified Kosher by Green Mountain Kosher. Eli's wines are vibrant, honest, and downright delicious. Camuna Cellars is the second urban winery that we are hosting and we're so excited to welcome Eli to Bloomsday! We hope to see you there!

FREE Port Tasting: Quinta do Infantado

Join us as owner, João Roseira pours wines from his estate in our bottle shop. This event is FREE and you’ll get a chance to meet and chat with João and also taste a true rarity: estate-bottled Port from the highest rated vineyards.

Quinta do Infantado was founded in 1816 in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro--considered its finest zone for both Port and dry wines--by the Portuguese crown heir D. Pedro IV, hence the name of the estate: “Infante” is Portuguese for "prince". The Roseira family has owned it since the end of the nineteenth century. Today, Infantado is run by third generation João Roseira (winemaker and vineyard manager) and other family members, who oversee family holdings of about forty-six hectares of vines. Quite interestingly, Infantado evolved over the last fifty years into the best kind of outlier and innovator in a wine region ruled for centuries by large-scale production and full-blown commerce.
